The last great socialist dream — the 1989 World Festival of Youth and Students, revisited through archival footage. Featuring Mugur Isărescu, Dan Bittman, and Adrian Năstase.
A visual poem composed of rare archival images, Bright Future takes us back to the summer of 1989 in North Korea, during the World Festival of Youth and Students. This final grand spectacle of socialist internationalism brought together thousands of young people from all over the world in the name of peace, solidarity, and social ideals. Among the faces in the crowd are key Romanian figures such as Mugur Isărescu, Dan Bittman, and Adrian Năstase. This is not a nostalgic look, but rather a sharp and curious re-reading of the past from today’s perspective.
